Our priorities are to serve those who do not have health insurance or who have additional barriers to accessing private counselling. Holly McLaughlin
Holly is a counselling intern who values creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. She believes a strong therapeutic relationship is an important foundation for meaningful change.
Holly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of New Brunswick and is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Through her training, she has developed an interest in supporting individuals navigating trauma, stress and burnout, and relational dynamics.
Holly is particularly interested in helping clients better understand their experiences and find healthy ways to cope with life’s challenges. She works collaboratively with clients to explore what they’re going through and support them in making meaningful changes in their lives.
Holly is with Just Us from May to December 2026. She is located at our Saint John office on Tuesdays and offers Online Counselling on Thursdays. Appointments are offered from 8:30am-4:00pm.

Kassie Yarn
Kassie is completing her Master’s in Counselling Psychology and practices from a non-judgmental, inclusive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming lens.
She has experience supporting individuals in vulnerable situations, particularly those navigating grief, anxiety, major life transitions, and stress management challenges. Kassie understands that these experiences can be demanding, emotionally draining, and at times isolating.
No matter the season of life, she provides a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change. Her approach is informed by person-centred values and integrates mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and family systems perspectives. Kassie believes clients already hold many of the strengths and tools needed for change and works collaboratively to help them access and build on that potential.

Andrea Mendez
Andrea is a committed mental health counselling professional pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counselling at Kingswood University in Sussex, NB. Her academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in theology and a minor in Christian Counselling, which has profoundly shaped her therapeutic approach and strengthened her dedication to serving clients from a compassionate, faith-centred perspective.
Throughout her training, Andrea has developed a solid foundation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and refined essential micro skills for effective clinical mental health counselling, including attending, listening, observing, encouraging, and empathy. She believes that a therapeutic relationship rooted in compassion and understanding is vital for meaningful change in clients’ lives.
Andrea is excited to blend her academic knowledge with hands-on experience, which helps her grow as a compassionate clinician. This continuous journey allows her to better support and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and communities she cares about. She wholeheartedly believes in using proven, evidence-based strategies to boost well-being and empower her clients every step of the way.

Mel Evermore
Melanie (she/her) holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Winnipeg and an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from Lakehead University. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Melanie is a compassionate, inclusive and grounded professional who takes a strength-based, person-centered approach to counselling. She focuses on empowering her clients to lean into their inner strengths to cultivate their innate wisdom and build resilience to face life’s challenges and transitions. She takes a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating the healing power of nature, yoga, creativity and mindfulness meditation, of which she is a certified teacher.
